Change menu prices without calling a technician

A price change that needs a vendor visit will be told to the cashier verbally. By the evening, half the bills use the new price and half use the old one.

Where the mismatch starts

Vegetable cost moves, a weekend special ends, a snack price goes up by ten rupees. Someone updates the board or the printed menu card. The billing notebook, the second cashier, and the parcel rate stay on the old number. Regulars notice. They should. They eat with you every week.

Cafe specials change even faster. A Powai or Bandra counter that rotates plates cannot wait for an outside person to log in and edit a list.

Change the billing menu first

The price you bill is the price that matters. Update that before you rewrite the board. Then the next bill is already correct, and the board can catch up. Do it before service, not in front of the guest who was quoted the other number.

Keep one menu. If lunch and dinner prices differ, switch them between services. Do not keep a side list for "the special" that never reaches the bill.

How W8R handles the edit

In W8R you change prices and items yourself. No technician is required for a normal menu edit. The next bill uses the price you saved. The kitchen slip uses the same item names, so the cook and the guest are looking at the same dish.

You still have to type the right number. The screen will not know that the market rate moved. It will stop the board and the bill from drifting apart because someone forgot to pass a verbal update.

A once-a-week price check

Once a week, before the busy service, read the ten items you sell most and confirm the price on the billing menu. Those ten cause almost every dispute. The rare dish can wait.

If lunch and dinner prices differ, make the switch a closing task for lunch, not a memory task for the dinner cashier. Write it on the same list as wiping the counter. A new weekend hire should not be the person who remembers the special.
